Transportation

From the design and planning of a large freeway system project to a local collector street, our engineers deliver projects on schedule.

Multi-jurisdictional reviews, securing funding, and lengthy environmental review processes often present challenges on transportation projects. Our experienced engineers are up to the task. Looking ahead is the key.

A quality transportation design is described as efficient, aesthetically pleasing, compatible with its surroundings, and useful. At VTN, we understand the important roll transportation projects play in everyday life. Our engineers carefully weave transportation designs with the surrounding environment to enhance the community.

Our expertise and experience show in the many projects we have developed. Contact us and make our team an integral part of your project.

Hydrology

Understanding and evaluating the potential flood impacts to property and its effect on public safety is a critical component of projects in both the Public Works and Private Development sectors.

VTN provides flood control design that meets regulatory requirements while being uniquely suited to the natural environment and aesthetic needs of each project. This is accomplished through a fundamental understanding of hydrologic processes and the drainage environment of the desert Southwest.

VTN is qualified and experienced with permitting of flood control projects at the local, state and federal level.

We offer:

  • Onsite flood risk analysis and assessments
  • Detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis to analyze storm water quantities, flow depths, and velocities during storm events
  • Flood control planning concepts
  • Design of local and regional: storm drains, drainage channels, detention basins, energy dissipaters and erosion control structures as required for each project

Subsurface Utility Engineering

3D Subsurface Utility Engineering (3D SUE) is an engineering process that helps to locate and map underground utilities and pipelines. It provides a 3D mapping of utility systems necessary for facility design.

SUE services can include utility design, utility coordination, surveying and mapping, 3D analysis and imaging, ground penetrating radar, GPS surveys, and geographic information systems (GIS).

Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) encourages the use of SUE on Federal-aid and Federal Lands Highway projects as an integral part of the preliminary engineering process through MAP-21, a new surface transportation law.

SUE is used by transportation departments (DOTs), local highway agencies, utility companies, and highway design consultants.

Our experienced and highly trained staff includes engineers, surveyors, and GIS technicians that have successfully provided all four SUE quality level services to state, municipal, and private clients. Call us today!
