SERVICES: TRAFFIC ENGINEERING

Technology And Experience Make The Difference!

VTN Consulting’s traffic engineers and designers have extensive experience in data collection and analysis, the preparation of traffic impact studies and design reports, the design of street delineation, signage, lighting, and traffic signal system improvement plans including the preparation of specifications and bid documents.

The VTN Consulting traffic department uses the latest in traffic engineering software for capacity analysis, signal warrant analysis, trip generation, signal timing optimization, network modeling, and traffic distribution and assignment.  Our traffic department also has a comprehensive knowledge of the application and design of traffic control devices and clearly understands that the overall objective of a traffic project is to provide a safe and efficient control of traffic flows.  In addition, our in-house GIS team can supplement traffic data with other relevant information such as population, socioeconomic factors, and land use information.  Our skilled engineers and experienced design team can provide roadway and intersection geometric design, traffic delineation, signage, and traffic signal system design plans as well as prepare the accompanying specifications and bid documents.

Finally, VTN Consulting’s traffic engineers believe it is most important to provide a quality service in a timely manner with a product that is both cost effective to our client and well engineered for the safety and utilization of the surrounding community.

VTN Consulting provides a full range of Traffic Engineering services to public and private clients.  These services include:

Transportation Planning/Feasibility Studies
Planning and Feasibility studies are a valuable tool to evaluate the transportation needs of planned developments and guide the development plan.

Pre Design Reports
Pre design reports are used to evaluate the future needs of capital improvement projects and establish the parameters for the final design of the project.

  Traffic Access Studies
Traffic Access Studies are used to determine the number and location of access points for proposed development.

Traffic Impact Analyses
Traffic Impact Analyses are required by local government agencies to determine the amount of traffic that is generated by development and what impact it has on the surrounding local road network.

  Intersection and Roadway Geometrics
Preparing roadway and intersection geometric designs requires an understanding of the desired traffic patterns and traffic movements. Existing geometric design and traffic volume counts are gathered and design alternatives are prepared.  The alternatives are evaluated to identify the feasibility and merits of each design.  After a design alternative is selected, detailed design plans are prepared.

Signing and Pavement Marking Plans
Signage and marking plans require an understanding of the use and application of traffic control devices.  VTN Consulting’s traffic engineers and designers have a through understanding of the use of traffic control devises as established in the Manual on Traffic Control Devices.

  Traffic Control Plans
Traffic Control Plans are required for the temporary rerouting or detour of traffic for maintenance, construction, or special events.  The VTN traffic team has several American Traffic Safety Service Association (ATSSA) certified traffic control supervisors and is capable of providing safe and efficient temporary traffic control plans.

Traffic Signal System Design
Traffic signals must meet established warrants prior to being installed.  VTN Consulting has prepared traffic signal warrant analysis and are knowledgeable with the requirements established in the Manual on Traffic Control Devices.
